CompIntelligence was once again honored to be a Gold sponsor in this year’s Love Runs Through -Sandy Hook 5K and Kids Run, a race dedicated to the memory of those affected by the Sandy Hook, CT tragedy that occurred in December, 2012.  Along with the sponsorship, CompIntelligence had several employees sporting bibs and taking part in the race day events at Fairfield Hills in Newtown, CT.

Proceeds from the race will be donated to the Collaborative Recovery Fund administered by The Newtown-Sandy Hook Community Foundation, which pays the out-of-pocket mental health expenses for those eligible who have been most impacted by 12/14. Additionally, a percentage of the proceeds will go directly to the chosen nonprofit organizations of the 26 families who lost loved ones in the tragedy.

While the weather was cold, rainy and windy, it didn’t stop the more than 2,300 runners from coming out to show their support to the Newtown, CT community. “It was pretty cool to be part of something that is much bigger than yourself”, commented CompIntelligence employee Howard Runyan. “During the opening ceremonies, you could feel an indescribable energy amongst the runners. I was awed by the closeness of the community, despite the horrific circumstances which brought it together.”

CompIntelligence employee Lilly Cruz summed up her experience taking part in the run as “It was an absolutely awesome experience and to be a part of it was an honor”.

CompIntelligence is headquartered in Oxford, CT, a neighbor to Newtown and where several employees reside. “Each year it is a special community event for all that participate; whether a sponsor, runner or volunteer, in support of so many good causes.” stated employee Karen Alexander, a Newtown resident and race volunteer.

This is the third year that CompIntelligence has sponsored and participated in the event. To learn more about the event see http://5krunforshf.org/
