CompIntelligence exhibited at the New England Joint Oracle User Group Conference held at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA on Thursday, November 17, 2016. The meetings kicked off with a Keynote by Stephen Slade, Director of Analyst Relations at Oracle for the Supply Chain Portfolio. He spoke about how companies are facing the challenge of transitioning to a digital economy and the new technologies that are emerging as a result. Not quite James Bond yet, but getting pretty close with artificial intelligence and other cutting edge emerging technologies.
There was also a Roadmap to the Cloud presentation by two Oracle consultants, who brought us up to date on Oracle’s EPM Cloud direction. They noted that as of February, 2016, there were 1,982 planning in the Cloud (PBCS) subscriptions with more than 100,000 end users.
They also spoke about the other applications that are either in the cloud already or coming. Some highlights:
- EPRCS – Financial Reporting is now Cloud based with an emphasis on Narrative Reporting which allows for more collaboration when preparing items such as the Annual Report, 10K and 10Q.
- EPBCS – This is Enterprise Planning and Budgeting in the Cloud which is PBCS with the other “modules” that used to be standalone now built in including Workforce, Capex and Projects.
- Other Cloud Services currently include Tax (TCS), Account Reconciliation Manager (ARMCS), Dimension Management, (DMCS), Profitability and Cost Management (PCMCS) and Business Intelligence (BICS).
The other major roadmap topic for the EPM community was Financial Close Cloud Service (FCCS) which is HFM in the Cloud. The current FCCS has the former Financial Close Manager (FCM), build into it; but it currently contains only a small fraction of the capability of on premises HFM today. The Oracle folks projected that FCCS will have 85% parity with on premises HFM by the next major release slated for some time around March, 2017. They hope follow that with another release some time mid 2017 where there is 100% parity.
At the end of the day, we held a drawing for 3 Amazon Gift Cards and a free seat in our upcoming HFM Administration class being delivered virtually on December 12-16th, a $3,500 value. Our Amazon Gift Card winners were, Michael Blanck from National Amusements, Linda M. Alaimo of Phoenix, and Samuel Owens from Haemonetics Corp. Daniela Antiquiera of Alere, Inc. was the lucky winner of the HFM Class seat. Congrats to all!
The day ended with a tour of Gillette Stadium. It was quite interesting to see “behind the curtains” of this operation which is really run like a small, well-coordinated city. Our tour guide was an ex-Patriots player, named Arnold, who kept us quite interested with his stories of past and present Patriots lore. Thank you Arnold!
